RAY E. LEACH SR. MEMORIAL LUNCH SEPT. 9

BARBERTON  Ray E. Leach Sr. Memorial Lunch is 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at Leach’s Meats and Sweets, 256 31st St. SW/Cleve-Mass Road.

Menu includes pulled pork sandwiches and Italian sausage sandwiches each for $5; sausage or pulled pork combo for $8; hot dogs for $3 each and a hot dog combo for $6. Sides include mac and cheese, Jojos and coleslaw. Combos include choice of sandwiches, two sides and a drink.

All proceeds will be split between Ester Ryan Shoe Fund and Barberton Area Community Ministries.

BARBERTON BACM Food Pantry is hosting an Open House on Monday, Sept. 18 from 1 to 7 p.m. 939 Norton Ave. Stop by to see all of the changes at BACM and plans for the future.

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE
BARBERTON The Friends of the Library Mum Fest book sale will be on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22 and 23, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Most books/DVDs are $1. And there is a “large bag” sale on Sunday 1-3 p.m., fill as many bags as you want for $5 each. Cash or check only. The sale is at the Barberton Library, 602 W. Park Ave. across from the Lake Anna gazebo.

WARM UP BARBERTON
BARBERTON If you love to crochet or knit and help others in the community, check out Warm Up Barberton’s next meeting on Sept. 29 at noon at the Barberton Public Library. Yarn donations are always accepted.

BACM FOOD PANTRY HOSTS BINGO
BARBERTON BACM Food Pantry will host BACM Bingo fundraiser on Wednesday, Oct. 18 from 5-9 p.m. at Prince of Peace church. Leach’s Meats & Sweets dinner served from 5-6 p.m. followed by 10 games of bingo. Mum plants and gift cards awarded to winners of each game. Admission tickets $30 each plus $1 credit card fee, available at www.BACM.org. Raffle baskets, 50/50 drawing, and door prizes.

SUMMIT COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY EVENTS SEPT. 11 AND 13

The Summit County Historical Society will host a free book talk at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept 11, at Perkins Stone Mansion, 550 Copley Road, Akron. Kelley Shinn, author of
“The Wounds that Bind Us,” grew up in Portage Lakes. At 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept 13, the Women’s History Project celebrates its 40th Anniversary at St. George’s Fellowship Centre,
3204 Ridgewood Road, Fairlawn, with a noon luncheon to follow. Keynote speaker is Maureen O’Connor, retired Ohio Supreme Court justice. Check Eventbrite for tickets, or call (330) 535-
