A man was hospitalized and a woman jailed after an alleged shooting in Barberton’s South End in the early morning Feb. 18.
Police got the call a little after 2 a.m. that gunshots were fired at the Washington Square Apartments on S Van Buren Avenue. Officers responded and saw a car leaving the area at high speed and pulled it over in the emergency parking lot at Summa Barberton Hospital. There they reportedly found a man with three gunshot wounds. He was stabilized at Barberton and then transferred to another area hospital.
During the subsequent investigation, officers discovered the victim and Outriana C. Germany, 28, had gotten into an argument at the apartment, according to a news release from Barberton Police Department. She reportedly left and returned and shot the man.
A warrant was issued and Germany was arrested later in the day by the U.S. Marshal’s Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. She was found with a man who was wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police for aggravated murder, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service.
Germany was turned over to Barberton detectives for booking and then taken to the Summit County Jail, charged with felonious assault.
A warrant for aggravated murder had been issued for the arrest of the man, Oturi Germany, 46, stemming from a fatal incident Jan. 10. Officers from the Cleveland Division Police, 3rd District, located a deceased male inside a storage room in the basement of an apartment building in the 2100 block of E 78th Street, Cleveland, according to a U.S. Marshals Service news release. The male victim had suffered a gunshot wound to his back. Oturi Germany was later identified as a suspect.
Members of the NOVFTF arrested both Oturi and Oturiana Germany inside a vehicle near the 5100 block of E 117th Street, Garfield Heights. Two firearms were located during the arrest and seized by officers on scene, the U.S. Marshals news release states.
“Thankfully, no one was hurt during the arrest and our task force was able to take two violent fugitives and firearms off the street today,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated in the release. “Our task force is comprised of outstanding officers who are highly trained, which results in safe arrests like the ones today in Garfield Heights.”
