Barberton woman, 43, dies in fire

BARBERTON  Investigators are trying to find out what caused a fire that claimed the life of a 43-year-old city woman April 14 in a Second Street NW building.

Crews were called at 9:50 a.m. and arrived within three minutes. Helping Barberton firefighters were units from the Norton, New Franklin and Coventry Township fire departments. No other injuries were reported.

The Ohio State Fire Marshal and the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating.

The woman was identified as Amanda Crow-Sonntag. The cause of death is pending further testing and investigation, according to a release from the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.
