Billy Joe Kennedy, 89

Despite his alertness and positive attitude, father time caught up with Billy Joe Kennedy on February 8, 2025. He was born on August 13, 1935. He was an avid golfer and in several leagues. He took yearly group trips to golf in Santee, S. Carolina area with his golf buddies. He was also a bowling league secretary for the Norton Men’s League. He married Lois F. Henderson in 1957 and had three children. After being divorced for many years, he married Charlotte (Lepley), who had two children. He graduated from Norton High School, was in the Marine reserves, and retired from B & W after 30+ years. He deeply enjoyed 15 years as a crossing guard for Barberton Public Schools.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Darwin “Buzz” Kennedy; sister, Iris Nott; and stepdaughter, Monica (Marty) Zelei; step-great-grandchild, Daegen Rhys Turner. Bill is survived by his wife of 33 years, Charlotte  (Lepley) Kennedy; children, David (Karen) Kennedy, Brenda (Joe) Hlas, and Sue (Greg) George, all of Norton; step-daughter, Susan (Greg) Wahrle of Marana, AZ; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

There was a private graveside service held at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
