AREA CRIME Akron man shot, killed after dispute in bar, vehicle

A 27-year-old Akron man died from a gunshot wound to the head at the end of last month, according to a news release from the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office. The news release referred to the case as an alleged kidnapping the morning of March 30 after a dispute at a S Arlington Street bar and continued in a vehicle as it was traveling southbound on state Route 21 in Wayne County. Gunshots were fired during this altercation, the release states.
Ohio State Highway Patrol later responded to state Route 21 at approximately 8:25 a.m. to a victim who appeared to be hit by a vehicle, according to a news release from Gary Guenther, chief investigator with the medical examiner’s office. The victim was transported to Akron General Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead at 9:36 a.m. March 30.
The victim was later identified as Timothy Hyatt, 27, of Akron. An autopsy was completed and the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head. The manner of death is homicide, the release states. Akron Police Department is investigating.
