BARBERTON SCHOOLS CLASS OF THE WEEK: Mrs. Babcock’s kindergarten class (Week of Nov. 6, 2023)

Barberton Primary School wants to recognize the kindergarten students in room 222 and their teacher Mrs. Babcock. This is the first year of school for our young learners and they are busy learning! As a school, we are focusing on excellent attendance with our students. In the month of October, Mrs. Babcock’s class had 16 students with excellent attendance and 6 of those students had perfect attendance! Of her students who are at school and ready to learn each day, seven of them know all of their letters and sounds and another seven can recognize their numbers. This year, students are learning to count up to 100 and six students have already mastered this benchmark! Our early learners are also learning The Magic Way – Be Respectful, Be Responsible & Safe and Be Ready to Learn. Students earn DOJO points every day for their positive behaviors. In Mrs. Babcock’s class, 15 of her students have earned 95% of their DOJO points for the year! Her class is on their way to be successful learners!
We asked the students in Mrs. Babcock’s class why they like to come to school everyday and why learning important. Here is what they had to say:
“I like Kindergarten because I get to make friends and learn to be kind.” – Krisslyn
“It is important to learn letters and sounds because it helps us read.” – Maleah
“I like Kindergarten because I am learning my letters and how to count.” – Ryleigh
“I like to come to school everyday because I get to see my friends and teacher.” – Lydia
“I like to come to school everyday because I am so close to counting to 100!” – Lilly
“I like to come to school everyday because I get to go to specials and play at recess.” – Quinton
“It is important to learn to count because I can count the things around us.” – Austin
“I like Kindergarten because I have a very nice teacher.” – Harper
“I like Kindergarten because I am learning to read short books and write my name.” – Logan
“It is important to learn letters and sounds because now I can write my own name and other words.” – William
