NORTON Thanks to the quick action of the Norton Fire Department, along with assistance from neighboring departments, a fully engulfed structure fire at the intersection of Clark Mill Road and Pine Gate Drive was under control within an hour.
“We received the call right around 6:30 a.m. and arrived at about 6:36 a.m.,” Fire Chief Mike Schultz said. “By the time we arrived, the fire was fully involved. It was an unoccupied home that was being renovated so fortunately no one was inside and no one got hurt, but unfortunately it looks like the house is a total loss.”
Firefighters from Barberton, Copley and Fairlawn fire departments also responded to the scene.
“The dedication and collaboration among our first responders is truly commendable,” he said. “Their
swift and decisive actions helped prevent further damage and ensured the safety of our residents.”
Schultz added that there were also no reported injuries to any of the firefighters on scene. He said firefighters had the blaze under control by roughly 7:30 a.m.
“It was a very impressive combined effort by everyone involved,” he said.
Schultz added that no adjacent property sustained any damage due to the fire.
“Luckily the other properties were not very close by,” he said. “But it was important to get the fire under control quickly. When we arrived on scene the fire was already blowing out of the windows, so it was important we get that knocked out as quickly as possible.”
Schultz added that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is still under investigation.
