BGNN staff report

AKRON  Members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Nov. 19 Khairi Moorer, 23, Derek Edwards, 19, and Robert Davis, 19, who were wanted by the Akron Police Department for aggravated murder, according to a Nov. 19 U.S. Marshals Service news release.

According to Akron police, officers originally responded to reports of a single car crash at the intersection of S Main Street and W Miller Avenue on Nov. 7. When officers arrived, they discovered a victim inside the car with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, identified as Jamar E. Franklin, 29, was transported to the hospital and was pronounced dead that night. Akron Police determined Franklin was sitting inside a vehicle in a carry out parking lot on W Long Street when he was shot by an unknown suspect. Franklin managed to drive a short distance after the shooting before crashing his vehicle.

Akron Police determined that Moorer, Edwards and Davis were involved in this incident and warrants were issued for their arrests, the news release states. On Nov. 14, members of the task force located and arrested Khairi Moorer at an address in the 100 block of Ido Ave., Akron. On Nov. 19, Derek Edwards and Robert Davis were arrested at an address in the 700 block of Kling St., Akron.
