A post-holiday car chase through Wayne and Summit counties resulted in a Marshallville man being arrested and facing charges including drug trafficking and reckless operation.
Wayne County Sheriff deputies were monitoring a suspected drug house near Gates Street and state Route 585 in Doylestown Nov. 30 and noted a car arrive and depart.
A deputy tried to pull the car over and the race was on.
The chase, which witnesses on social media say involved as many as four cruisers at a time, wound through Barberton’s west side.
Police say the driver ignored lights and signs as he attempted to shake off his pursuers.
Barberton continued the pursuit into Norton, where officers there took the handoff. The driver kept the chase going into Akron, where he crashed near a fire station and fled on foot.
Police say he was found hiding in a nearby dumpster and was uninjured. A search of the car turned up suspected methamphetamine, about 41 grams of marijuana, baggies and a scale and the driver, Dylan A. Bond, 28, of Marshallville, reportedly had a large amount of cash on him.
Bond was arrested and charged with drug trafficking, reckless operation, drug possession, driving under suspension, paraphernalia, failure to comply with an order of a police officer and obstructing official business.
He was taken to the Wayne County Jail.
