Officials investigating fatal fire

BARBERTON  A 46-year-old man was found dead Dec. 17 in a burning apartment on First Street SE.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Joshua Wokojance.

The Barberton Fire Department got the call at 7:38 a.m. A resident of an apartment there reported smoke.

Fire Chief Stephen Ionno said when crews arrived, other apartments had smoke as well. The fire originated in an apartment below the caller’s.

Crews entered and found the deceased man inside.

Barberton Police and the State Fire Marshal are investigating.
