NORTON  Following the resignation of treasurer Stephanie Hagenbush, the Norton Board of Education will soon begin the task of finding a new treasurer for Norton City Schools.

“We plan to start advertising for the position this week,” said Cindy Webel, vice president of the Norton Board of Education.

District treasurer is a board appointed position so board members will be responsible for interviewing candidates and hiring a new treasurer. The board approved the appointment of Todd Carpenter to serve as interim treasurer late last year.

“He will probably be serving as interim treasurer for a couple more months as we post the position and then conduct interviews,” Webel said.

The board of education accepted Hagenbush’s resignation in December. Hagenbush was relieved of her duties during an emergency board of education meeting Nov. 14. She was placed on paid administrative leave and the district announced they would conduct an investigation regarding allegations of misconduct.
District officials have not announced a conclusion to the investigation and it has not yet been determined if there will be any charges filed against Hagenbush.
