Jo Ann Clemmer, 85

Jo Ann was born to Neil and Ruth Rhodes in Stumptown, West Virginia on July 11, 1939. She died Friday, February 21, 2025 at Tore’s Home assisted living with her husband Ron by her side. She was the oldest of eight children. Her brother Brian Rhodes and sister Jean Simmoneau survive her. She attended elementary school in West Virginia. The family moved to Ohio when she was fourteen years old. Jo Ann was a proud graduate of Coventry High School class of 1957.

She married in 1958 and had three children. Vicki Groat, (Jay), Kevin Owens, and Cathy Haidet, (Jeff). Vicki lives in Westerville, Ohio. Kevin and Cathy preceded their mother in death. Dearly loved Grandson Jackson Groat divides his time between Akron and Westerville Ohio.

Jo Ann began working at Akron National Bank in 1969. She loved her work, retiring from PNC Bank in July 1994 after twenty-five years of service to her customers. JoAnn and Ron were married on December 28, 1972, and were active residents in Barberton, Ohio for twenty-two years.

Jo Ann and Ron lived on their boat, the ‘tisGrand”, for a year after retirement They motored down the east coast before settling in Bonita Springs, Florida for thirteen years. They enjoyed a successful business named “Empty Nest Home Services” for ten years in Bonita. Ft. Myers, Florida was their next home where they enjoyed golf, tennis, biking, and traveling. They visited (or drove through) forty-eight states. They enjoyed seven European countries, England, China, numerous cruises, and several locations in Canada.

They moved to North Carolina in 2009 where they and their dog “Cooper” had a home in the Appalachian mountains for several years before moving to a senior living community in beautiful Brevard, North Carolina. Jo Ann’s greatest joy was her family and many Ohio, Florida, and North Carolina friends. She never met a dog or horse she didn’t like.

Jo Ann’s family extends a loving thank you to each of the following. College Walk Senior Living, UNC Health, Memory Care, Care Partners, The Oaks, Transylvania Regional Hospital, Tore’s Home, and Four Seasons Hospice for their excellent care.

Jo Ann requested cremation and no funeral service. Contributions may be made to any Alzheimer’s research organization, or Memory Care Asheville website, donate online.
