Walter J. Faix, 90

Walter J. Faix of Barberton passed away on March 7th, 2025, a few weeks after celebrating his 90th birthday. Walt was a tall, handsome man who retired from B&W after 36 years of distinguished service. As a boy he was an acclaimed pitcher and a skilled artist who won an award from the local paper. He served in the army in Korea and was a lifelong fan of Ohio sports teams (Go Indians! Go Buckeyes!), and a member of the Barberton Hungarian Club. Walt had a curious mind and loved airplanes, music and road trips. He was a good golfer and a pretty decent bowler as well. Walt was known and appreciated for his stories, his sense of humor, his beautiful skin and his extensive list of people he rightfully wanted to sue. He was kind and generous to his friends and family and to everyone who knew him. He is survived by his sister Dorothy Stack of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, numerous nieces and nephews, and his stepdaughter Tammy Mantz of Colorado. Walter will rest in well-earned peace at the Western Reserve National Cemetery.

Walt was my uncle – my favorite – and a great guy!
He always had a story and joke for everyone. Walt was game
for any adventure (I’ll never forget when he house-sat for
me one spring in Hoboken after he retired. He was fearless
exploring Manhattan for the first time and traveling to Atlantic
City with the Hoboken Puerto Rican women’s club – he loved
trying new things). And in his prime he looked like a 70s movie
    star (imo)!
We will all miss you Walt!
    Love,
    Terry
