Raymond A. Duffield, 57

Raymond A. Duffield
February 20, 1968 – May 4, 2025
Raymond Allen Duffield, 57, of Barberton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on May 4, 2025. Born February 20, 1968 in Cleveland, he was the beloved son of the late G. Ford and Elizabeth J. (Hicks) Duffield.
Ray was preceded in death by his best friend and brother, Kenneth H. Duffield. He is lovingly survived by his wife of eight years, Roxanne M. Duffield; siblings Tammy R. (Donald) Moore, Daniel S. Duffield, Kimberly R. Duffield, sister-in-law Chris A. Duffield and many nieces and nephews.
He was a devoted father to Preston (Leah) Chapin, Samantha (Matthew) Robinson, Maggie (Jason) Surber, Isaac Poff, Elizabeth (Emily) Duffield, and Levi Poff. He was a proud and doting ”Papaw” to Malachi, Luke, Gabriel, Wyatt, Zechariah, and Gideon. Ray’s love extended beyond his immediate family—he cherished many as his own, including Derrick (H. Elizabeth) Stillwell, Rebecca Dalton, and their children.
Although a graduate of Cloverleaf High School, Ray bled purple and had an unwavering love for the Barberton community—especially its youth. Whether in the stands or on the sidelines, he was always there cheering, coaching, and encouraging kids to excel not just in sports, but in school and in life.
Ray’s personality lit up every room he entered. With an easy sense of humor and a contagious smile, he made friends everywhere—from family gatherings to his deliveries for AutoZone and beyond. He had a rare gift for making people feel seen, heard, and loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, hosted by his family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Ray by cheering a little louder at the next game, telling someone you believe in them, or simply sharing a laugh with a friend.
He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
The family wants to thank the incredible staff for the care given to him at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center and Lifebanc for helping them through his choice to give; even after death through organ donation.

Met Mr Duffield through a project my company assisted him with recently caused by a recent storm that left the exterior of his home damaged. He was a pleasure to work with, genuinely a nice guy with an infectious personality. Thoroughly enjoyed our conversation while the repairs were being made. Ray even generously offered to buy myself and my crew lunch, much appreciated. My deepest condolences and prayers go out to Mr Duffields family. God bless and dont forget to hug your loved ones
