He is preceded in death by his father and mother; Stephen and Evona Gay Coon; wife Catherine Coon; brother Kenneth Coon; daughter Evonna Krunich; and son Michael Coon Jr. He is survived by sisters Debbie Stalnaker and Susie Easterling; sons Nathan Talbot, Leonard (Amanda) Coon, Stephen (Jessica) Coon; daughter Mary Coon; honorary daughter Sarah Easterling; and daughter-in-law Julie Coon as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
