LOCAL BOOK REVIEWS Top picks from Barberton Public Library staff: ‘We Used to Live Here’

Roxana Rathbun, children’s librarian at the Barberton Public Library, reviews: “We Used to Live Here” by Marcus Kliewer
This is a speculative horror novel that had me on the edge of my seat! Eve and Charlie have recently purchased a home that they are intending to flip. The house is old but in a beautiful neighborhood. However, things take a turn one night while Eve is home alone. “We Used to Live Here” will keep you on your toes as you try to figure out what is really going on. Marcus Kliewer craftily pulls you into an almost psychosis-like state as you delve deeper into the novel, making you question nearly everything! The twists and turns are further heightened by the inclusion of reports and documents from the police and other agencies that help you piece together the story. If you like stories set in a small town with strong emphasis on setting as characters as well as character-driven plotlines, give this book a try!
