Barberton City Schools 19th annual Academic Hall of Fame ceremony is Sept. 5 at Barberton High School. Seven Barberton High School alumni are being inducted this year: David R. Cooper, from the Class of 1962; Christine Duncan Finan, Class of 1977; James E. Young, Class of 1979; Anne-Marie Anderson, Class of 1983; Aaron Day, Class of 1991 and both Rob Branham and Marty Eberhart are from the Class of 1993.
The program for the inductees includes a luncheon, tour of the high school, reception, and concludes with their introduction and football game that evening. The selection committee included Sheila McGhee, Brian Nehlsen, Tiffany Peters, Beth Hirschman and Cindy Sutton.

After attending Tiffin University for a short time, Eberhart graduated from The University of Akron with an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice in 1996.
Eberhart started with BPD in 1996 as a reserve patrolman and worked part-time at the Sheriff’s Department
until he became full time in 2002. While working, he also coached different youth sports helping Barberton kids. Some of his accomplishments include being Officer/Employee of the Year two times for the City of Barberton.
He is the current President of Barberton F.O.P. Lodge #13 and is an instructor for A.L.I.C.E., assisting businesses and churches in active shooter preparedness. He is also an instructor in less lethal, chemical munitions and mobile field force.
He currently resides in Barberton and is the SRO at Barberton High School working for the police department for
more than 23 years. He is also a current member of the Barberton SWAT team and is the Public Information
Officer. He has one daughter, Rylee, who attends Ohio University.
