A STORIED START TO A MODERN TRADITION
Barberton – the Magic City – was founded in 1891 by visionary industrialist O. C. Barber, who transformed farmland into a thriving industrial hub almost overnight. At its heart was the Anna Dean Farm, an agricultural marvel complete with ornate barns, greenhouses, and the iconic Piggery, now the starting point for the Barber Classic 5K & Fun Run, Saturday, Sept. 13, at 248 Robinson Ave. See www.barberclassic5k.org for more information.
This spirited event is a vibrant homage to Barberton’s heritage – where the gleaming red-white-and-blue Piggery once housed O. C. Barber’s prized pigs – and showcases how our city’s past continues to inspire community celebration today.

WHY 5KS AND FUN RUNS ARE GROWING IN POPULARITY
Across the nation, 5K races have steadily grown in popularity—not just as fitness challenges, but as heartfelt charitable events. Here in Barberton, the Barber Classic 5K & Fun Run blends the city’s legacy of industry, philanthropy, and community pride into one memorable weekend.
Proceeds from the race will benefit multiple charitable causes. In particular, Barberton Kiwanis, an all-volunteer organization celebrating over 100 years, supports the children of our community, providing opportunities for growth, improvement, and fulfillment.
