2025 BARBERTON SPORTS HALL OF FAME — Brittany Mingo

The 2025 Barberton Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be Nov. 26 at Al’s banquet facility. This year’s class includes Mike Bodnar, Brittany Mingo, Scott Sabol, Mike Palija, Charlie Ries (O.C. Barber) and Barberton Tree (President’s Award).

A 2005 graduate of Barberton High School, Brittany Mingo played for coaches Pam and Willie Davis. In Mingo’s career for the Lady Magics, she received many honors. Including, in her junior year, the Cleveland Plain Dealer Player of the Week, MVP of the Barberton Holiday Classic, and first team All-Academic for the Western Reserve Conference. In her junior year, she helped the Lady Magics go all the way to the State Semi-Finals in Columbus.

But that was just the beginning for Brittany Mingo.

In her senior year, she was named first team All-Academic WRC, first team All-WRC, again Plain Dealer Player of the Week, named to Who’s Who in Ohio Sports, 2nd team All-Northeast Ohio Inland, All-Ohio Honorable Mention, and 1590 WAKR radio Student Athlete of the Year.
She also was chosen to play in the Stark-Summit Rotary All-Star game. Mingo currently ranks 16th on the all-time Lady Magic scoring list with 658 points. During her career she had 37 double figure games, eight games of 20 points or more, and 55 three pointers.

Mingo began her college playing career at IUPUI, then transferring to West Virginia State. There, she earned many honors including 2008 first team All-Conference, 2008 2nd team Daktronics All-Atlantic Region, 2008 Chick-Fil-A Classic MVP, first team 2009 All-Tournament West Virginia State Athletic Conference, 2009 first team All-Daktronics, 2009 Division II All-American candidate, and she led her league in scoring with a 22.1 average. After college, Mingo played professionally in Eastern Europe, playing for CSS U Craiova and Brasov both in Romania.
Mingo graduated in 2012 from the University of North Texas with a degree in Recreation and Leisure studies and a minor in Sports Management. She also earned a master’s degree from the University of Texas in Dallas in Justice Administration and Leadership.

She lives in McKinney, Texas with her wife, Melanie, and their four children, Braylen (6), Maxwell (5), Brave (2), and Bella (6 months). She has been a police officer for 10 years and works for Frisco Police Department in Frisco, Texas. Mingo was nominated for the Barberton Sports Hall of Fame by Damoniq’e Askew and Mike Eberhart.
