White Rabbit Galleries hosted the traveling exhibit “The Spirit of America’s Story: The Wall” Nov. 7-11, offering visitors a powerful visual journey through America’s fight for freedom from 1775 to the present day.
The installation, created by Ron Smith and Patricia Sexton of Sandusky, honors the sacrifices made by generations of servicemembers and stands as a testament to the nation’s enduring commitment to liberty.
Smith and Sexton were present throughout the exhibition, meeting visitors, answering questions, and sharing the inspiration behind their work. Their presence added a meaningful personal connection to a display that already resonated deeply with those who attended.
White Rabbit Galleries proved to be an ideal setting for the exhibit, providing a welcoming and reflective atmosphere for community members to experience the artwork. Attendance remained strong throughout the five-day event, underscoring the community’s appreciation for both the exhibit and the values it represents.
A special reception was on Veterans Day to honor local Veterans, bringing together residents, supporters, and servicemembers in a heartfelt celebration of gratitude and remembrance.
The organizers would like to express sincere thanks to the community and to the generous sponsors whose support made the event possible. The exhibit’s success highlighted not only the power of art to preserve history, but also the strength and unity of a community committed to honoring those who have served.
Lisa Weinsheimer, who was one of the coordinators of the event with Monte Harris, Megann Eberhart and Julie D. Miller, wrote that they were proud to bring “The Spirit of America’s Story – The Wall” to Barberton and they are grateful to the “wonderful community, and the generous sponsors who made this event possible.”
