Norton Music Boosters present annual ‘Neighborhood Challenge’

BGNN staff report
NORTON The Norton Music Boosters are once again announcing their “Neighborhood Challenge,” a part of their annual “Tag Day Fund Drive,” according to a news release.
Norton High School band and choir students will be going door to door Saturday, May 9 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. collecting donations for support of music programs in the Norton City Schools.
The Norton neighborhood that donates the largest average donation, will be awarded a neighborhood picnic and parade by the Norton High School Marching Band in their neighborhood. The band will also provide a mini concert for the winning neighborhood. The Norton Music Boosters will grill the hotdogs and hamburgers and ask residents to bring a dish to share.
The winning neighborhood will also be encouraged to add other units to the parade like decorated bicycles, a neighborhood citizen of the year, prettiest pooch and so forth. Residents who do not live in any organized housing development will be included with the closest “neighborhood” to their home. The parade and picnic will take place on Saturday, July 25. What a great way to enjoy the summer and celebrate with neighbors, the release states. May the best neighborhood win.
