James C. Kondik

CRESTON, OH – On Sunday, December 31, 2023, James C. Kondik, a loving husband and father of four passed away at the age of 81.  Born on February 13, 1942 in Barberton, OH to the late Jonas and Angela (Zupec) Kondik, James was a resident of Creston since 1967.  He attended S.S. Cyril and Methodius Catholic School, graduated from Norton High School and attended Ohio University.  James married Diane S. Ostovich on July 4, 1964 while serving with the U.S. Air Force in Anchorage, AK during the Vietnam War.  He later retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber after 25 years of service as a computer analyst and then was owner and operator of a janitorial service for 30 years.  He was a member and lector at St. Anne’s Parish in Rittman. He was also a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, serving on its finance committee and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was treasurer of Avila’s of the Cleveland Diocese and served on the committee for new memberships. A certified organic grain and beef farmer in Wayne County, he had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying trapping, hunting, and fishing with family and friends. James will be remembered for his wit, humor, kind heartedness, and generosity all while keeping a daily journal of his life.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Karen Ohlin; brother-in-law, Ed Eppick, he is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Diane, his children, Christine (Ron) Ginnetti, Brenda Boville (Kevin Boville), Rev. Fr. Curtis Kondik, Denice Kondik; grandchildren, Michael, Rev. Fr. Nicholas, Maria, Christopher, Catalina, Ben; great grandchildren, Catherine and James; sisters; Joan Eppick, Angela (Jim) Williams; brothers, Bill (Cathy) Kondik, Eugene (Joann) Kondik; brother in-law, John Ohlin; sister in-law, Deann (Marty) Adams; nieces, nephews, other family and friends. The family would like to thank the many relatives, friends and close neighbors for all their prayers, cards, and support.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 161W. Clinton St., Doylestown, OH, 44230 with Fr. Curtis Kondik and Fr. Nicholas Ginnetti Con-Celebrant.  Burial will take place in the church cemetery followed immediately by a luncheon where the family will receive friends and condolences at 12:15 at the Zion Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall located next to the cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, St. Stephens Catholic Church in West Salem, OH, or to Our Lady Help of Christians in Litchfield, OH.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com

    We are so sorry we were unable to attend the Funeral Services.
    Linda has been very sick, throwing up constantly, with diarrhea.
